Free trade helps the consumer in the U.S. while hurting the Labor Market
Free trade is beneficial towards consumers because of cheap prices on goods that are made in foreign countries. While being beneficial to consumers it is actually hurting the labor market here because more jobs are going to these other countries. I still feel like it's our duty as a top economic power that we can afford to sacrifice these jobs in order to help out those countries who need it. Even if we kept these jobs american citizens wouldn't stand to work for a ridiculous amount of hours with wages of $4 a day. This would increase price of production greatly therefore increasing prices on goods greatly. I want my t-shirts to stay at an average price of 20-30$ and not be inflated to about $40-50$ just for the simple reason that it was made here. Consumers would also then consume less if prices were inflated which would hurt our economy because the key to growth in the market is the consumption of these goods. Stay CHEAP and consume more! :)

Sweat Shops bad.....but necessary?
I feel as if sweat shops have a lot of cons but also has a it's set of pros. The biggest disadvantage of having sweat shops is that it's detrimental to the workers health being exposed to all the fumes. Another disadvantage would be how factories and unclean working conditions also have on the environment itself.
Advantages of having sweat shops are providing more jobs for developing countries and cheaper production costs resulting in cheaper costs for consumers to goods. Majority of people who choose to work in sweat shops are the farmers who go from making 25 Cents a day to around 4 dollars a day by working in a factory. This cheap production also affects consumers because if these goods were made in USA for example not everyone would work for 4 dollars a day so the owners of these manufacturing companies would charge more in order to make a profit.
Realistically and unfortunately I don't think I would spend less or more even if I knew about how and where these products were made. :(

Consumer Worksheet
While filling out the Worksheet I realized that almost all goods such as the shoes, clothes, backpack, cellphone, or etc are made from asian countries(mainly China). I felt terrible after finding about the people who make these goods because they basically get treated like slaves. Most of these people consist of farmers who desperatly need more money to provide for there families and start to work in factories/sweatshops to earn $4 a day rather than out in the field where they might earn 25 cents a DAY. Companies such as Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, gap, or etc most of these headquarters are not even locating in the U.S.
Researching these blogs really make me feel guilty and humble for the life I live in the U.S.

My name is Scott Suh and currently enrolled at Foothill College. I currently am working towards receiving my AA as a business administration major. I'm taking ENGL-1A not only because of the requirement for my degree but to also expand my knowledge of english literature. I believe this blog can help me achieve this knowledge in a more efficient way because I can view different perspectives of the material from my peers. I'm looking forward to keeping this blog updated with my thoughts on what we'l be learning throughout the course and to view other blogs as well!
